Finding God in the Ruins
(How God Redeems Pain)
Can we talk about a few things? Because I’m feeling pretty excited about all of this and I’d like to bring you up to speed. Walk with me for a second.
FIRST OF ALL…the book cover. Ain’t she pretty? The people at David C. Cook know what they’re doing and I love the efforts they’ve put in to making it inviting and even a little bit whimsical.
SECONDLY…you can pre-order the book here: www.mattbayswriter.com/findinggodintheruins At this point, it is available for pre-order on Amazon, but as you can see, will be available wherever books are sold and wonderful retailers like Barnes and Noble, Lifeway, Books a Million, etc. The book is scheduled for release on March 1, 2016. It’s still a ways off, but a lot will be happening between now and then and I will keep you up to speed throughout the process.
THIRDLY…here’s the write-up that will be on the back cover:
If God is Love, Why Do We Hurt So Much?
When the reality of your pain doesn’t line up with what you’ve been taught in church, then what? While many abandon their faith or embrace hopelessness, it is possible to discover the God who heals your heart in the midst of the pain.
Matt Bays has been where you are. His unforgettable stories of loss and healing will usher you into a life where gratitude overpowers anger, hope overcomes despair, and hunger for God replaces indifference to God. With a fresh and original writing style, Bays demonstrates that true redemption is far more powerful than the temporary fixes of sanitized Christianity.
Get ready to find a much bigger God than the one you thought you lost in your pain!
I LOVE all of that. BUT THEN…I ran into this “one-sentence synopsis” ad which is being used in promotional materials:
“In the tradition of Donald Miller comes the fresh voice of Matt Bays, offering hope to those who have experienced deep loss or pain and crave more than trite answers about God and suffering.”
As soon as I read that I giggled like a little girl. You see…I’m a fan of Donald Miller’s work because of the very real impact it has had on me. So to see our names separated by just 5 little words makes me feel like I just might be on to something good…like helping people…giving them hope, freedom, and sanity.
LASTLY: Here is the book promo. I know what you’re thinking… “Why not do a music video promo?” That’s what I thought! I really do LOVE doing things a little differently and I am so grateful for how this turned out. Thanks to my friends Dave Elwert and Dave Stillwell for their excellent work in putting this together. So watch it…you’ll get to see my sister and I sing together…and then my mother will sing…which is just about the cutest thing ever. And hopefully you will catch a glimpse of the battered and beautiful humanness of life…and the great triumph of hope as well.
After you watch it, I would love for you to share this promo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever newly invented form of social media you’ve begun using. It really does help to get the word out. Plus, I have this feeling that stuff like this makes people feel like they’re not alone and also that something greater is out there…someONE that loves them and is with them. So after watching just click the little icon in the upper right hand corner of the video and it will bring up a few ways you can share!
That’s the update. I don’t know that I can accurately express my gratitude for your faithful support of my blog, the book and this journey I’ve been on in my life. I can’t do it apart from you…this I know. So please know that my “thank you” is real.
Peace and love! And as always…please feel free to share!
